So, after an all day field trip downtown, here is the lowdown. The #1 hit was the I Am A Child Of God exhibit at the Church History and Art Museum. It focuses on the theme for the Primary this year--
I am a Child of God.
You start out by entering a hospital nursery where the kids get a baby doll, wash and dress it, then they get to play doctor with all the bells and whistles. For the record, Ben did not like this part.
The next room they have dress ups to reinact the nativity. They have a Tree of Life activity with an iron rod and a balance beam. They have blocks to build temples, rub on CTR shields, create stain glass windows, tie a quilt etc. The kids really enjoy this part..

After that museum, we went to the basement of the RS building to a Primary exhibit. Great for Primary presidencies- not for kids!
We then went to the Pioneer Museum across the street from the capital. EVERYTHING old is contained in this museum. Very interesting but a little too much for anyone under 6. Great for a fourth grader learning about Utah History. We then crossed the street and visited the capital- always inspiring.
In summary, I felt like we spent the day in Washington D.C.- walking everywhere and hitting as many museums as physically possible. The kids were pretty well behaved and it was an adventure.
When I asked the kids what they thought was the highlight though, they said "eating out at Crown Burger!" Figures
