BIRTHDAY BASH

Rylee turned 8 yesterday..and BARELY survived. She has been way pumped up for this ever exciting day. We had 10 girls over for her party. We played many fun and wonderful games. We played a game where each girl was given a playground ball. There were 2 of each color ie 2 pink, 2 orange etc. We had an 'it' guarding a laundry basket. 'It' would turn her back, and the girls would exchange balls quickly. 'It' would then call out a color and turn around. The girls that had the selected colored ball would run forward and try to make a basket before 'it' would could tag them. Way fun!
One of the favorite games was so easy. I got 3 balls of yarn, tied one to the basketball hoop, tied one to a tree, and one to the playground. I instructed the girls to make a spider web. Wrap the yarn around something, then throw it to another girl to do the same. By the end of the event, our backyard was totally unusable. Great fun for the kid who has never been toilet papering!
We then did a Mystery Menu Dinner. The kids had to order from a menu written in code..they had no idea what they were ordering. Rylee's first course conisted of mustard, ketchup, relish, an olive, and celery. YUMMY!
The party ended by having the girls assemble the kits for girls in a treatment center for abuse. The girls brought donations instead of presents..and boy did they fill those sacks! It was a great end to a fun party.
Rylee finally got to bed at 9...then at 11..Mommy's party began.
Apparently, Rylee was so pumped up, that her tummy just couldn't handle itself. She threw up in her sleep. That is one exhausted girl! Unfortunately, the room didn't fare well. I was up until 2:30 cleaning up that mess...
Being so tired brought me screaming back to exactly 8 years ago..except back then people took care of me, not the other way around!
Overall, we had a great time with Rylee's great friends. I sure hope the girls had fun!

Oops, I said I would email you a mystery menu. And then my memory of that conversation completely disappeared from my mind until I read this. That's what I get for staying up so late on book club night.

It sounds like everything you planned was a hit though! You're such a fun mom. Happy Birthday Rylee!
